Bunion is one of the most common problems faced by many people. It is more common than you can imagine. The medical term for this condition is known as Hallux Valgus. The problem arises when a bump starts developing on the inside of your big toe. This comes along with severe pain and swelling. The swelling is caused due to a bone which protrudes towards the inside of your foot. The big toe joint gets bigger which pressurizes other toes. These pressured toes cause severe pain ... A bunion is a bony lump on the side of the foot at the base of the big toe. This may be an isolated problem, but it is often associated with other problems with the shape of the foot. A bunion looks like a “bump” on the joint of the big toe; however, these bumps are not calluses. Instead they result from the bones in your foot becoming misaligned. More often than not, the big toe is leaning inward towards the middle toe giving the appearance of a bump on the joint. Bunions are a progressive disease that warrants treatment by a podiatry specialist or foot doctor early on. A bunion ( hallux valgus ) is a sometimes painful structural deformity of the bones and the joint between the foot and big toe. Many girls who start on pointe are scared that they will get bunions from doing pointe work. If a bunion is present it can cause real problems with fitting pointe shoes and dancing en pointe. Dance Physiotherapist Lisa Howell discusses the reality of dancing with bunions and offers practical solutions to working en pointe more comfortably. There's an old southern saying that goes, "Don't like the weather? Just hang around a few minutes. It'll change." Anyone who's spent much time in Alabama can relate to that one. It's not uncommon to wake up to a blue sky filled with brilliant sunshine and white puffy clouds, then go to bed that evening with the wind and rain beating against your window. Alabama weather is about as predictable as watching The Jerry Springer Show. You know something's going to happen, you're just not sure what it will be. In the beginning you undoubtably paid attention to what he had to say. You paid attention to his needs. Do you still do that or are you more interested in getting in the last word or proving to him that you are right? What causes foot pain?
There are many factors that contribute to foot pain:
- Wearing shoes that do not fit properly - causing calluses and bunions
- Obesity or being overweight increases chances of foot problems or injuries.
A great tip when buying shoes - buy them in the afternoon when feet are at their largest due to swelling. If you wear heels, no more than one inch is best. Having pointe shoes that fit well can make all the difference in you loving or hating pointe work, so it is important to get it right from the beginning. Ill fitting shoes can result in not only pain and discomfort while dancing, but also black toenails, blisters and stress fractures in the toes.
Arthritis is broken down by characteristics into several diseases and disorders. Though, rheumatoid arthritis is the most commonly known, three other forms of arthritis are just as common, as defined below. I was still standing in the mall entranceway when I discovered that I had no idea what to do next. That's when I realized that it doesn't matter how early in the season you shop if you have no idea what you're shopping for. In other words: tis better to shop on December 24th with a gift in mind than to go two weeks early and walk around like a last minute man without a clue.
